Genglu

Built in 1933, this house was owned by Xie Gengchen, who began as a merchant in Southeast Asia and later returned to Tanxi market town to run a grocery store, and built this new home. His descendants migrated to Hong Kong after the war, and then to San Francisco, USA, in the 1990s. Genglu Residence consists of two parts: the front section following the traditional 3-bay, 2-corridor layout, with a brick-concrete structure, gray brick walls, and reinforced concrete floors; while the rear section retains traditional rammed earth walls and tiled roofs. The Cangdong team renovated the house in 2019, and it now serves as the ‌Qiaoxiang Red Culture Museum‌.
